Mud Volcano Bledug Kuwu In Central Java Indonesia

Bledug Kuwu is a mud volcano (mud volcano) located in Kuwu Village, Kradenan District, Grobogan District, Central Java Province. This place can be reached approximately 28 km to the east of Purwodadi city. Bledug Kuwu is one of the mainstay attractions in this area, besides the source of perennial fire of Mrapen, and Kedungombo Reservoir. The interesting object of this bledug is the salt-sludge-containing mud and lasts periodically, between 2 and 3 minutes.Geologically, the Kuwu mud crater, like other mud craters, is the activity of gas release from the earth's core. This gas is usually methane. Kuwu is the only one located in Central Java [need a reference]. The mud eruptions that occur usually carry also a mineral-rich solution from the bottom of the mud upwards. The mud volcano of Sidoarjo is also caused by the mud crater, although for the latter the level of activity is higher. The origin of Bledug Kuwu's name is a bledug called Bledug Kuwu (because it is located in Kuwu). This crater periodically (2-3 minutes interval) releases mineral sludge in the form of a large burst (up to 2 m tall). By the locals this sludge is utilized minerally for the manufacture of a salt concentrate called bleng (IPA: bləŋ) and is used, for example, in the manufacture of cracker karakukAccording to the hereditary stories circulating among the local people, Bledug Kuwu happened because of a hole connecting the place with the South Sea (Indian Ocean). It is said that the hole is the way back Jaka Linglung from the South Sea to the kingdom of Medang Kamulan after defeating the King of the Gods Cengkar which has turned into a white crocodile in the South Sea. Joko Linglung is said to be able to make the hole because he could transform into a dragon that is a requirement for him to be recognized as a child Raden Ajisaka.
